The Challenge
The customer needed aluminum components with multiple machined faces, tight bores, and clean surfaces — held to ±0.01 mm on critical features, with a finish ready for anodizing, and delivered within a tight window to keep their production line on schedule. Any deviation on the mating features would have caused fitment problems during assembly.
Our Approach
- DFM review: our engineering team optimized tool access and minimized setups before cutting
- 5-axis machining (±0.005 mm): multiple faces finished in a single setup for higher accuracy and shorter lead time
- Material: aluminum 6061, machined with optimized feeds, speeds, and coolant
- Quality flow: IQC → FAI → IPQC → OQC, verified on a CMM (±0.003 mm)
